Ideas worth spreading can spring up anywhere across the globe and not only in Vancouver where annual TED Talks are held. TEDxKL recognises both international and local talents who are driving progress different fields and seeks to bring their ideas to a wider audience.
TEDx is a non-profit program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. It was first organised in 2010 and since then has had luminaries such as the late filmmaker Yasmin Ahmad, artist RED Hong Yi, neuroscientist Jafri Malin Abdullah and other visionaries as its speakers.
This year’s speaker line-up is similarly varied. The audience will hear from a robotics and research scientist, Dr. Angelica Lim; a media personality, Umapagan Ampikaipakan; co-founder of AirGo Design, Alireza Yaghoubi and others. Aside from speeches, attendants will also have the opportunity to listen to performances by a nine-year-old pianist prodigy, Magdalene Ho; prolific rap duo Dose Two; and violinist extraordinaire, Dennis Lau.
This one-day event is being held on 9 August at Calvary Convention Centre. Tickets are priced at RM150 for online purchase and RM180 at the door. Availability of the walk-in tickets is subjected to any change. It run from 10am until 10pm and meals will be provided throughout the day. You can register for tickets online here.
