Think KL is expensive?
With the gradual rising costs of petrol, goods and more, not to mention the upcoming implementation of GST, it seems to be the only thing everyone is talking about these days. But let’s spare a thought for our neighbours across the causeway.
According to the latest Worldwide Cost of Living Survey released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Singapore now tops the chart of the world’s most expensive cities. It is the most expensive city to live in for 2014, effectively replacing Tokyo which was at the top for 2013.
The survey takes into account a list of prices ranging from food, transport, clothes, utility bills and many more. Other cities joining Singapore at the top of the list are Paris, Oslo, Zurich and Sydney.
As of now, details of the entire report are not out yet. What we do know was that Kuala Lumpur was ranked 74 on the list in 2012 and has been steadily climbing our way up since 2009 when it was ranked 90 worldwide.
Seems like we’re not the only ones who will have to tighten our purse strings in the coming season.
