What is it?
A food truck that serves up Mexican food-on-the-go, Curbside Cantina is a relatively new addition to the growing community of food trucks in the Klang Valley. They offer a regularly changing menu of tacos, churros and other Mexican style snack food. Routinely moving around several central locations easily accessible by the public, Curbside Cantina doesn’t have a fixed schedule. Currently, they are parked in Bangsar. You may also sometimes find them at food bazaars like the recent Foodgasm Fest in Taman Rimba Kiara.
Who is it?
Curbside Cantina is an extension of a catering company called Cantina Moderna which started at the beginning of last year. Owned by Noreen Ramli, her husband Awangku Irawan and their friend, Ruthlene Abu Sahid, this team has been in the catering scene since 2006 and even ran a restaurant, Pink Sage, from 2008 to 2011. “Curbside Cantina is an amalgamation of those experiences for us and our way to move forward,” says Noreen.
The tacos are the bestsellers. We tried the steak tacos, and got a serving of tender chunks of marinated steak pieces nestled in a soft taco wrap, topped off with cheese, onions and their signature red and white sauces. The tacos also come with a side of papadoms and a spicy dip. Noreen’s personal favourite? The Quesa-Tacos with a crispy mozzarella layer.
Your hands as you stand or sit huddled around the food truck.
An average of RM10 – RM14 for savoury items on the menu, RM8 for churros.
