George Town will host this year’s Borak Arts.

In line with Malaysia being the host to the ASEAN summit this year, the 2015 Borak Arts Series will be kicking off on 29 – 30 August with the theme “Asean and the Future”  at its newfound home, George Town Festival.

Borak Arts Series is a conference that discusses issues that face those working in and for the arts. One of the highlights of the event this year is Borak Art Series’ Pitchpad ASEAN – a forum for art practitioners to present and discover new arts projects.

This year’s Pitchpad will feature 10 ASEAN submissions to present their works to more than 170 performing arts professionals. Selected pitchers will be given seven minutes to present and three minutes to answer questions.

Works that are eligible to be pitched include works that are still in the developmental stage with plans to be premiered within the next two years or works that have already premiered in its country of origin but have yet to tour outside. Participants also stand a chance to potentially secure additional project support, representation, performance engagements and international exposure based on their presentations.

Artists must be professional performing artists or company originating from an ASEAN member country. On top of that, they must be available to present at Borak Arts Series on Sunday, 30 August 2015 at 10am and attend a technical rehearsal on the evening of 28 August 2015.

To apply for Pitchpad ASEAN, send an email to [email protected] for more information and application form. Submission closes 31 July 2015 at 5 pm. Selected candidates will be notified by 8 August 2015.
