2014 has zoomed past us faster than Speedy Gonzales at a rat race. The good news is that as the year draws to a close, we can look forward to this year’s Urbanscapes!
This will be the first time the local creative arts festival will be held out of the Klang Valley. Urbanscapes 2014 will be taking it to new heights, literally, by hosting the festival at Horse Ranch in Resorts World Genting on 6 December.
This year’s line-up covers music from international acts Local Natives and The Lemonheads, as well as Jagwar Ma and Kimbra. As for our local musical talents, Najwa, OJ Law, Ali Aiman, The Cottonfield Scarecrows, Faiq & The Manja Mob and Paperplane Pursuit will be showcasing as well.
Among the other entertainment on offer, you can explore your senses at The Generalist’s “multi-experiental market” which will be back again this year. You can also find out how to find out how to minimise your carbon footprint a The Biji Biji Initiative or have a laugh with local funny man, Kuah Jenhan, who will be officiating as Mayor of the territory of “North Bangsar”.
Plan your day with the festival schedule here.
Phase 3 tickets are priced at RM207 and tickets will be sold at the door for RM227.
However, there is also an ongoing promotion with Fred Perry where you can buy tickets (cash only) at Fred Perry Authentic Stores for just RM160, and also receive a 10% discount on their clothing when you show your ticket.
There will be a bus service by Genting Express, departing from Pudu Sentral, KL Sentral, 1Utama and Terminal Putra LRT Gombak. Prices to Genting costs between RM9.40 – RM10.60 and the return journey costs between RM3.40 – RM4.60.
Aerobus will run a service from KLIA and KLIA2 for RM70, return. These buses will arrive at Lower Skyway Genting, about 10 minutes walk away from the festival venue.
MyTeksi is also offering a promotional deal for people who take a taxi to Genting in groups of four. You can get RM60 cash back on each trip – a total of RM120 for a return ride. You just need to present four valued tickets (free tickets are not eligible) to receive the cash back. Full terms and conditions here.
The Urbanscapes team are providing a transport and accommodation package for all those coming from Singapore. For $469, you can jump on ‘The Bandwagon’, Urbanscapes official festival bus! The bus will depart from Singapore and arrive at the festival venue. The fee includes two return bus tickets, two entrance tickets to Urbanscapes and a night’s stay in a standard double room at First World Hotel. Travel insurance is sold separately at $18.
Since no overnight camping is allowed at the festival, those wanting to stay overnight have a couple of hotel options. Currently, Urbanscapes is offering packages where you can buy one night’s stay at the First World Hotel and the package includes a pair of festival tickets. Prices start from RM564 nett.
