Are you up for some #BeraniSarong action with a group of like-minded individuals while riding a public train? If you’re game for an afternoon of alternative dressing or if you’ve missed out on previous #KeratapiSarong events in the past, the Random Alphabets (RA) crew are back to make this annual event even bigger and better, with a sarong flashmob on 26 April.
Random Alphabets, a “participatory arts group” who like conducting social experiments, will bring their sarong wearing troupe to the public trains on 26 April at 3pm. “It was organised to bring people together and have fun while you’re at it,” says Zain HD, the brains behind the event. “No matter who you are, Malaysian or not, you can wear a sarong. It’s an event for everyone.”
#KeratapiSarong is going global this round with nine cities besides KL already agreeing to participate in the fun together. Some of the cities on board are Lyon (France), New York (US), Melbourne (Australia) and Tokyo (Japan).
As is typical of the guerrilla and flash mob style Random Alphabets are known for, meet-up points and routes will only be revealed at the last minute. You’ll be able to find out on 22 April, 10pm, so keep an eye on their Facebook page.
A little additional perk for those who #BeraniSarong, the Bee at Jaya One is also getting into the fun. Come dine in your sarong anytime from 14 – 18 April and you’ll get a 10% off your bill!
