What exactly is a “good Malaysian woman”? In a new exhibition at Black Box, Publika, 22 artists interpret the role of women in our society and what it means to be a Malaysian woman today. The exhibition runs from 18 – 25 May.
Titled “The Good Malaysian Woman: Ethnicity, Religion, Politics”, this exhibition is co-organized by All Women’s Action Society (AWAM) and Interpr8 Art Space. The featured artists include both established and emerging names, including Norhayati Kaprawi, Sharon Chin, Anniketyni Madian, Yee I-Lann and Minstrel Kuik. Together, their work covers a spectrum of media including paintings, photography, sculpture, video art, mixed media works and installation.
The exhibition is curated by Sharmin Parameswaran and Sunitha Janamohanan. All artworks are for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to AWAM, a women’s rights NGO.
