Art For Grabs returns on 28 and 29 September, with its usual jamboree of books, art and culture at Annexe Gallery. As well as browsing the market, look out for these free events to tickle your grey matter.
Malaysian Cinema in a Bottle – Book Launch

The legendary film critic Hassan Muthalib will launch his history of Malaysian cinema, from its roots in oral storytelling through to post-WW2 filmmaking and the New Waves of the 1980s and 1990s. A must for film buffs.
Dubook Press + Buku Fixi – Book Launch
Saturday 28 September, 2pm
Four new books will be launched at this event, including three from the popular modern novel imprint Buku Fixi: SERONOK (Saat Omar), SAMAR (Dayang Noor) INFANTISID (Rozlan Mohd Noor) and MAAF AKU BUKAN LAGI LEON TROTSKY KAMU SEMUA (Lucius Maximus).
Tukang Perahu Pulau Duyong

Catch the premiere of this documentary about the tradition of boat-making in the community of Pulau Duyong in Terengganu. Directed by Azharr Rudin and Imri Nasution, the film is in Malay with English subtitles.

The PJ arts venue hosts a stand-up comedy, spoken word and live music session featuring regular open mic performers. The witty and multi-talented musician-novelist Brian Gomez will MC.

Homeless by Choice

Actress Mislina Mustaffa decided to live without a home for a year. In what is sure to be an eye-opening discussion, she’ll talk about her experiences and about the cultural perceptions of women, home-making and house security.
