“If you want to make an omelette, you’ve got to break some eggs” – so the old saying goes.

In Malaysia, up and coming food businesses are not just breaking eggs: they are breaking the rules. Malaysia’s food scene is seeing a transformation, spearheaded by small businesses and entrepreneurs.

At Poskod.MY, we’ve covered stories of pop-up restaurants, local franchises and underground dining – just a few of the developments that are shaking up the industry.

That’s why we’re delighted to announce that Poskod.MY will be the official media partner for PasarMakan: a new initiative to foster the growth of food entrepreneurs.

PasarMakan is one day event of free workshops and networking sessions. Bringing together business visionaries, investors and diehard foodies, Pasar Makan is a first for the Malaysian food industry.

At PasarMakan, food entrepreneurs will have the chance to learn from experienced industry CEOs and successful business models. For new start-ups and existing ventures alike, it’s an opportunity to grow, innovate and improve – completely free of charge.

PasarMakan will be held on 11 January at The Purah, D6 Sentul East. The programme is divided between a closed workshop and an open networking session:

Food Venture Hack & Food Pitch Challenge

The Food Venture Hack brings together people from all links of the food business chain – chefs, marketeers, managers, programmers, designers, investors and more – to come up with innovative food venture ideas, under the guidance of experienced business coaches. The teams will then get the chance to pitch their ideas to a panel of evaluators and potential investors.

The Food Venture Hack is limited to 30 participants, so don’t delay in signing up here!

Tea & Coffee Dialogue

This open, informal session will be hosted by different experts who will share unconventional insights into their food businesses. Hosts include:

–       Co-founder of Plateculture.com, online private dining platform.

–       The founders of The Kitchen Table Supper Club, private dining club.

–       Managing Director of Food Panda Malaysia and Indonesia, food delivery franchise.

–       CEO of ZeePearl, F&B software development company.

This session does not require registration and is open to walk-ins.
