For the past five years, KL International Photoawards (KLPA) has provided an opportunity to talented photographers to gain exposure through their competition. For its sixth year, Poskod.MY is excited to be partnering with KLPA as a media partner – with our readers participating as judges!
KLPA focuses on the concept behind the images rather than the technical quality. The overall theme of this year is “Look At Me” and as usual, portrait photography is the focus. As the rules go, the photos can be taken off absolutely any camera – be it a phone camera, tablet camera, DSLR etc. Submissions open on 1 March and close on 30 April. [Update: the deadline is now extended until 7 May].
Category A: Individual Portraits (Open theme)
Category B: Individual Portraits (Theme: Savage and Serene)
Category C: Photostories (Open theme)
First place winners of each category will walk away USD3,500 richer along with a specially commissioned trophy. Second place win USD1,500 and third place winners walk away with USD750. Each winner win a Pascafe Camsafe anti-theft camera bag.
In addition to the categories above, Poskod.MY will be hosting the People’s Choice Awards, which is open to Malaysian participants under 30. The winners will be chosen by our readers through online voting. The first prize winner will be interviewed and featured on Poskod.MY and also take home RM1000. The second prize is RM750; and the third prize, RM500.
The finalists will be announced in August, but there will be events such as talks and workshops happening throughout the year. There will also be a mentor programme, ‘EXPOSURE +3’ (in association with UnRepresented) for a small group of people to work with experienced photographers to develop their work.
Submissions open on 1 March and close on 30 April. [Update: the deadline is now extended until 7 May].
