What is it?
HummusCo is a homegrown KL company which makes and sells a line of fresh gourmet hummus and other dips. After starting out at food bazaars and festivals, their products are now stocked in a few supermarkets – a welcome addition to the limited brands of imported hummus that have been available in supermarkets up to now.
On top of the signature blend, HummusCo also have more adventurous flavours: Tangy Jalapeno, Mediterranean, Spicy Sriracha, Roasted Garlic and Smoky Chipotle to name a few. Each pot of hummus is suitable for vegetarians, preservative-free and gluten free. They also make baba ghanoush (an aubergine-based dip) and Mexican black bean dip.
Who is it?
HummusCo founders Aneesha Veriah and Fariz Zain Zahedi are corporate consultants who craved the kind of hummus they had tasted during their years spent abroad. Reminiscing about the unique flavours of the hummus available in Adelaide and London, they started to make their own – it wasn’t long before family members were putting in orders.
The signature hummus is a good start. This is the original and plain hummus that is a simple yet rich and creamy blend of chickpeas, vegetable oil, lemon juice, sesame seed paste and garlic all in one pot.
Sourdough, warm pita bread or spread in your sandwiches. It’s the perfect mate for all kinds of breads and crackers or alternatively carrot and celery sticks. Basically, hummus is made for smearing, dipping and dunking.
