The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) promotes international peace. This weekend, look out for lots of arts activities and performances at Padang Dataran Merdeka from 22 May to 24 May as part of an annual Hari UNESCO celebration.

On Saturday 23 May, there will be Santai di Tengah Kota, which will run all the way from 10am to 10pm. Enjoy free buskers’ performances, a street library and pop-up food park for picnics. Buku Fixi will also be launching its new anthology, GARIS at 2pm. Head to Jalan Raja at 4pm to join the Amazing Heritage Race to discover the heritage buildings of Kuala Lumpur.

On Sunday 24 May, chill out to various musical performances at Dataran Merdeka and Jalan Raja throughout the day, ranging from beatboxing to gamelan and Malay drum as well Muzik Cak Lempong and creative dance performances.

Throughout the weekend, you can also catch puppetry performances from different countries, since Hari UNESCO also sees Malaysia hosting this year’s ASEAN Puppetry Conference.
