Are you looking for a fresh burst of creativity? Pop over to the Media/Art Kitchen exhibition at Publika. This ongoing exhibition is displaying the work of artists and curators from seven ASEAN countries.

For this exhibition, the term “media / art” is used widely to include works that are produced from experimentation with technology, created with a DIY spirit. The overall aim is to explore how we express ourselves in a constantly changing media landscape. The theme, “Reality distortion field”, suggests a place where the impossible becomes possible and there are no rules.

This traveling exhibition will take place in Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila and Kuala Lumpur including more than 60 artists. You can expect a range of artwork that challenges you to think outside the box: it could be film, digital video, anime, photography, installations, sound or even performances. In fact, it’s just like the kind of creative mix you might find in the kitchen.

The Malaysian contributors are a diverse group, including animator and multimedia artist Fairuz Rahman and conceptual artist Yap Sau Bin. There will be three elements to Media / Art Kitchen: an exhibition, workshops and a lab where visitors can try their hand at different technologies.

UPDATE: The exhibition will also be featuring PostPhoneLab, an installation by our sister campaign #BetterCities which aims to get strangers talking and listening to each other! Find out more about PostPhone here.
